The Best Video Monitoring Services Companies

Jonah Engler - Video Monitoring Services

There are several companies that excel at security and monitoring service. You’ll recognize some of the names easily because some of them are also always actively keeping the company name in front of the public. Here are some we found.

Frontpoint. Their basic package includes GE wireless security equipment, 24/7 fire, environmental and life safety monitoring, text and email alerts, and mobile-app based system control, and live video monitoring. On consumeraffairs/frontpoint they have received high marks from customers. Out of 1,375 listed reviews, nearly 1,300 of them are either 5 or 4 stars.

ADT. There are conflicting viewpoints – Consumer Advocate feels ADT is the #2 best company providing security services, Consumer Affairs* only shares negative reviews on them. You can pick and choose what you want from them, but their video monitoring package offers you the opportunity to check on the home, children, pets, babysitter or an elderly parent. They have measures in place to protect your privacy and send email alerts If they spot any trouble.

Vivant. Their basic package includes the usual, onsite cameras do their job when motion detectors are activated. They provide you with an app so you can control your security settings, lock up your place if you forgot or monitor remotely from your smartphone, desktop computer, or laptop. Based on nearly 1,000 comments, consumeraffairs/apx_alarm* gave them a 3 star average.

Protect America. Protect America guarantees the lowest price and has monthly options starting under $20. The price standard on each package offers more connection reliability as you choose the higher-cost options.

In looking at all of the above, the companies’ primary function is to provide remote monitoring and response in emergency situations. Video monitoring is an option and may be solely controlled by customers allowing customers to set up their motion detectors cameras and view remotely from their smartphone, tablet, or computer. So, we offer you another possibility if you only want the video monitoring from your equipment.

Canary. Canary is not an ongoing service, but a one and done purchase. You buy their system for $249ish, take it out of the package and connect it to your devices. You can move it around if you like, and it can go with you if you are a renter to your next location, or even travel with you if you are on the road a lot. It’s just another option.

*Company does NOT participate in Consumer Affairs accreditation program. This may be the explanation of the low rankings given by them for certain companies.
